Helena Moreno

Helena Nancy Moreno (born September 30, 1977) is a Mexican-born American politician and former journalist and realtor who is mayor-elect of New Orleans. She has served as an at-large member of the New Orleans City Council since 2017. Moreno was formerly a Democratic member of the Louisiana House of Representatives, where she served District 93 from 2010 to 2018. She then served as New Orleans City Council president from 2019 to 2023.

On October 8, 2024, Moreno filed paperwork to run for mayor of New Orleans in the 2025 election. Moreno avoided a runoff and was elected mayor of New Orleans in October 2025 with 55% of the vote. Upon taking office Moreno will become the city's first Hispanic mayor and second female mayor. Provided by Wikipedia
